PARPAR

Two dancers stand in an open space, surrounded by an unsettled atmosphere. They playfully start inviting the audience to their perfomance. In this intimate setting, the audience literally and figuratively guides the dancers through different scenes. Humorous, confronting, recognizable, pure and powerful: they let their audience experience how you can deprived of your freedom and how to reclaim it.

There are many different forms of freedom. This performance focusses on autonomous freedom. Autonomy comes from the Greek Autonomos in which auto means 'self' and nomos means 'law'. Self-legislation, or feeling free within oneself to make choices, is the theme in which we take our audience along. Yet the audience is free to derive their own interpretation from the performance. Our pure and abstract but recognizable physica llanguage invites the spectator to make individual associations and thus individual experience.

The audience is part of the performance through interaction which makes each performance different and personal. That is why Clou Dance Company performs for and with small groups. The viewers are challenged to limit the freedom of the dancers and thus think of freedom within theirselves.

Jury review
